China's leading rail producer, the China Railway Construction Corporation, has signed agreements with the west African countries of Senegal and Mali to renovate a rail line linking the two countries.
The project itself is worth around 2.7 billion U.S. dollars.
It involves upgrading the nearly 13-hundred kilometer long railway.
Around half of it is in Senegal.
The rest is in Mali.
The line itself was built some 80-years ago.
It's expected the upgrade to the line will take around 4-years to complete.
The conclusion of the contract comes on the heels of 3 executives from the CRCC murdered in a hostage-taking in Mali's capital Bamako while negotiating the agreement.
