Renesola sets up representative office in Taiwan Nuying Huang,Taipei;Jackie Chang,DIGITIMES[Monday 8 October 2012]China-based solar firms hope to seek closer cooperation with Taiwan-based peers due to the anti-dumping investigations in the US and EU.Firms such as GCL-Poly and Renesola have set up representative offices in Taiwan.

Renesola introduced the new Virtus A++high-efficiency multi-crystalline solar wafer and diamond wire mono-crystalline solar wafer at PV Taiwan 2012.According to the firm, shipments of the high-efficiency solar wafer have reached 150MW per month. The firm's current multi-crystalline solar wafer capacity is 1.8GW.The firm will focus on producing multi-crystalline high-efficiency solar wafers by transferring all mono-like capacity to multi-crystalline products in October.Renesola has annual mono-crystalline product capacity of 700MW.

According to Stephen Huang, president of Asia-Pacific region for Renesola, the firm currently has annual polysilicon capacity of 4,000 tons with costs below US$30/kg.

Renesola added that the firm continues to hold solar cell capacity at 300MW and has been operating at full capacity. The firm hopes to strengthen cooperation with Taiwan-based firms, and hence does not plan to expand solar cell capacity.Solar module capacity has been around 1.2GW,said Renesola, and the firm plans to expand into international markets such as India in 2013.

China-based firm,Xi'an Longi Silicon, also participated at PV Taiwan 2012.The firm currently has annual mono-crystalline solar wafer capacity of 1.5GW with 10%N-type mono-crystalline and 90%on P-type products. The firm aims to lower production costs of mono-crystalline solar wafers to US$0.99/unit and efficiency to 19.5%.
