The US steel mills' shipments totaled 7,978,531 net tons in April, down by 0.7% from a month ago and falling by 3.2% year on year, according to report of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). Among them, the shipments of cod rolled sheets increased by 10%; those of hot dipped galvanized steel sheets and strips rose by 5% and those of hot rolled sheets decreased by 4%, all compared to the figures in March. In the first four months of this year, the US steel mills' shipments amounted to 31,547,910 net tons, decreasing by 6.3% from 33,663,439 net tons in the same period of year ago.
