There's More Freight Hitting The Road in Canada Today,by About Eight Percent

There's more freight hitting the road in Canada today than the same time last year, by about eight percent. Even since last month, the volume of freight was up seven percent, making October 2013 the second highest freight volume since 2009, according to TransCore Link Logistics' Canadian Freight.

Out of the total volume of freight available, 68 percent was crossing the Canada-U.S. border, which is one percent more freight volume than the same time last year.

Freight travelling within Canada represented 26 percent of the total volume for the month of October, which is up seven percent since last year.

Here's October's Breakdown:

Cross Border Loads Coming into Canada:

56 percent were going to Ontario 23 percent to Western Canada 19 percent to Quebec 2 percent to Atlantic provinces

The majority of loads travelling within Canada came from Western Canada (47 percent), Ontario (30 percent), Quebec (17 percent) and Atlantic region (6 percent).

Those loads were travelling to: 

35 percent to Western Canada 38 percent to Ontario 24 percent to Quebec 3 percent to Atlantic provinces
