Flybi Is a Drone That Gives You a Bird's-Eye View in Virtual Reality

Plenty of drones enable you to see what they see via a phone or tablet. But Flybi is the first to stream back the footage in virtual reality.

It comes with its own set of VR goggles. Slap them on, and you can watch the drone's footage in ultra-immersive virtual reality. Even better, it detects when you move your head, thanks to the aerial on the virtual-reality goggles, and moves the camera accordingly. Turn your head to the left, and the camera will look left, for example. It's the most intuitive way to have a look around.

It has an obstacle avoidance system that means it won't collide with any objects in its path, so you can fly without being too cautious. You can also stream your footage to other people using the Flybi VR app. All they have to do is strap their smartphone into their pair of Flybi VR goggles, and they can (virtually) take flight.

The goggles work just like Google Cardboard, although they're made of plastic, rather than cardboard.

The camera records in 1080p HD and can take 12-megapixel stills.

It's raised over $32,000 of a $50,000 target and still has 38 days to go. It costs $495 (£331) on an early bird, and will ship in June next year.
