HSG Has Released a Code of Conduct for Alliance Members

HSG has released a Code of Conduct for alliance members.

"The auto glass industry has a wide spectrum of providers, but the best in the industry are committed to a strong code of ethics—as demonstrated by this elite group of providers'willingness to commit to stringent standards,"said Paul Gross,CEO of HSG.

According to the code of conduct, members are expected to meet several operations, customer service and business practices requirements.

The Alliance previously announced that all members must be Auto Glass Safety Council(AGSC)registered companies. The Code of Conduct states that member companies must require drug testing and background investigations for employees and provide continuing education in auto glass techniques.Customers shall receive receipts and warranties on all work performed, customer confidentiality must be assured and managers must be equipped with necessary services and shops must actively seek customer satisfaction feedback.Additionally the business must uphold high standards of integrity and offer fair,conflict-free services.

Membership to the group is through invitation only.

In an exclusive interview with glassBYTEs.com™/AGRR™magazine,Bruce Jenson, director of affiliates for HSG,explains the purpose behind the alliance.

"PGA is designed to find the very best independent glass retailers across the country and give them a common purpose,a common code of conduct and common consumer offers that make them better. It's the idea of making the best better,"he says.

"PGA was really designed because—typically speaking—the independent glass retailer is painted to the public, and more importantly to the insurance companies,as characters with a very broad brush,"continues Jensen."It seems to be that the reputation of all independents,if you saw what was printed and said, they're unscrupulous, unethical, seeking glass harvesting, any of those buzz words that are not in the best interest of the policy holder and insurance company. The purpose is to establish a real alliance that can be put for the industry and ultimately to the policy holders, that is a group of elite premier auto glass providers."

Jensen says that the program will be beneficial to members by offering them increased business opportunities in a reputable manner. These benefits include gaining more access to insurance claims and market share within your own marketplace.

"We are trying to maximize our national coverage with the least number of retailers,"he adds."It's not an open cast call.We are trying to achieve 100 percent national coverage using only the best shops and striving to minimize overlap and improve the effectiveness for getting claims in that area."
