Turkey should concentrate more on the Middle Eastern and African countries for exporting its home textiles, Ali Babacan, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey said at the EVTEKS-Istanbul Home Textile Fair 2013, which recently concluded at Istanbul.   Mr. Babacan said the development in Turkey's home textile sector is evident from the success of the EVTEKS-Istanbul Home Textile Fair, which also reflects the country's ability to adapt to the changing world.   He added that the focus should be on promoting home textile products based on new technology, that also cater to the latest needs of the consumers.

Mr. Babacan highlighted the adverse condition of the European market after the economic crisis in 2008-09. He said that Turkey can no more rely on the European market as it is not expected to grow in the near future.    According to the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Turkish home textile goods currently sold in Middle East and Africa are nearly equal to the amount of products consumed by European countries.   The EVTEKS-Istanbul Home Textile Fair 2013, one of the largest home textile fairs in Turkey, housed around 1,000 exhibitors and was visited by more than 125,000 professionals from the industry.
