Value of South Africa's Exports of Base Metals and Articles Increased by 9.7%

According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in September this year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 9.5 billion ($936 million), increasing by 9.7 percent from the previous month. In the first nine months of the current year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles increased by 9.6 percent year on year, reaching ZAR 74.6 billion ($7.3 billion).

In September this year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 3.8 billion ($372 million), down 23.5 percent from August, while in the first nine months of the year South African imports of base metals and articles thereof rose 25.7 percent year on year to ZAR 36.6 billion ($3.6 billion).
