South Korean unit of General Motors, GM Korea is planning to introduce its new electric Chevrolet Spark in the domestic market in 2013.
According to the company, the new electric Chevy Spark car will be manufactured at GM's Changwon plant starting 2013.
In addition, the electric mini vehicle will also be sold in the Korean market as well as exported to the US.
Battery pack for the electric Chevy Spark car, which is expected to be powered by a 114-horsepower electric motor, will be supplied by A123 Systems.
GM, which accounts for about 25% of all Chevrolets sold globally, said it is investing more than $900m per year to enhance development of electric-drive vehicles.
