P-Xylene prices went down in Europe, while they surged up in Asia and US In the week ending October 6.
In Korea, P-Xylene prices opened at US$ 1485/ton (FOB Korea), down US$ 20/ton from the previous week. But mid-week, prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1485-1505/ton. In S.E. Asia, prices showed similar trend as in Korea and hovered in the range of US$ 1490-1510/ton (CFR S.E. Asia).
Market sources reported that ExxonMobil settled its Asian P-Xylene contract prices for October at US$ 1490/ton (CFR Asia), higher by US$ 40/ton as compared to its September settlement price.
In Europe, P-Xylene prices went down slightly due to decline in upstream product prices and low downstream buying sentiments in the region.
In the initial days of the reporting week, prices were assessed at US$ 1470/ton (FOB Rotterdam) lower by US$ 15/ton and settled between US$ 1460-1470/ton by the week-end. Contract prices for October were settled at € 1190/ton (FD NEW) same as compared to the last month's contract prices.
In US, P-Xylene prices showed similar trend as in Asia. In the initial days of the previous week, prices were assessed at US$ 1475/ton higher by US$ 20/ton. Speculators witnessed spot prices in the range of US$ 1475-1495/ton (FD US).
