MeadWestvaco(MWV)has announced the launch of a new security packaging solution Intercept that promotes open merchandising while protecting products against theft throughout the supply chain.
According to the global packaging company,Intercept lock, which uses the security technology from the US-based ProTeqt Technologies, features a wireless-enabled lock placed on the product, such as in the micro USB port on a mobile phone.
The lock disables the functionality of the product until the lock is deactivated using ProTeqt's system during check out and the thieves end up with a worthless product if the product is not purchased legally.
MWV claims retailers and brand owners are provided with the security they need to combat all forms of theft, including shoplifting, organized retail crime and employee theft, with Intercept.
The latest technology allows consumers to interact with the products in-store fully and take their purchase straight to the check-out register. Its flexibility allows it to protect almost any category of product offered at retail.
