Sempra Energy's natural-gas utility won approval from California regulators to install 6 million"smart"meters that will allow remote monitoring of gas usage at an estimated cost of$1.05 billion.
The California Public Utilities Commission voted 3-2 to approve San Diego-based Sempra's Southern California Gas Co.proposal today at its regular meeting in San Francisco.
