Coal Exports From PWCS Rose by 10.8 Percent Compared to September

Coal exports from the Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 10.2 million mt in October this year, rising by 10.8 percent compared to September according to the company's announcement. 22 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals was coking coal.

In the first 10 months of this year, coking coal exports constituted 16 percent of overall coal exports from PWCS, which totaled 92.1 million mt, up 12.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in the first 10 months of the year, with shipments to Japan accounting for 50.7 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to China was 21.96 percent of the total.
