In the January-October period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China (from a total of 80 shipbuilding enterprises) amounted to 34.80 million deadweight tons (dwt), down 25.4 percent year on year, according to the figures released by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI).
In the given period, China's new ship orders amounted to 46.44 million dwt, up 183 percent year on year. As of the end of October, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 117.87 million dwt, up 1.1 percent year on year and up 10.2 percent compared to the end of 2012.
In the January-October period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 29.30 million dwt, down 24.5 percent year on year and accounting for 84.2 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China. In the given period, China's new ship export orders amounted to 43.00 million dwt, up 228 percent year on year and constituting 92.6 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of October, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 103.13 million dwt, up 5.9 percent compared with the corresponding date in 2012 and constituting 87.5 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
In the first 10 months this year, the total industrial output value of the 80 shipbuilding enterprises in China amounted to RMB 289.6 billion ($47.53 billion), down 11.2 percent year on year. The aggregate export value of the 80 ship enterprises was RMB 134.6 billion ($22.09 billion), down 22.6 percent year on year. Meanwhile, total operating revenue and gross profit of the enterprises in question amounted to RMB 201.2 billion ($33.02 billion) and RMB 5.23 billion ($0.85 billion), down 13.9 percent and 49.8 percent respectively, both year on year.
In the January-October period of this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output of the 39 large and medium-size shipbuilding enterprises in China totaled 28.68 million dwt, down 31.7 percent year on year. In the given period, the new ship orders of the 39 enterprises in question amounted to 43.71 million dwt, up 228 percent year on year. As of the end of October, ship orders on the books of these large and medium-size shipbuilding enterprises totaled 109.66 million dwt, up 5.8 percent year on year.
In the January-October period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders of the 39 large and medium-size shipbuilding enterprises in China totaled 24.46 million dwt, down 30.3 percent year on year and accounting for 85.3 percent of the total shipbuilding output of the 39 large and medium-size shipbuilding enterprises in China.
In the given period, new ship export orders of the 39 large and medium-size Chinese shipbuilding enterprises amounted to 40.73 million dwt, up 284 percent year on year and constituting 93.2 percent of total new ship orders of these enterprises. As of the end of October, ship export orders on the books of the Chinese shipbuilding enterprises in question totaled 95.95 million dwt, up 10.8 percent compared with the same period of 2012 and constituting 87.5 percent of total ship orders on the books of the 39 large and medium-size shipbuilding enterprises.
