Turkey's Total Wire Rod Exports Down 19.12 Percent in The Third Quarter of 2009

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first nine months of the current year Turkey's wire rod exports amounted to 697,211 mt, decreasing 16.73 percent, while the revenue of these exports fell to $421.11 million, down 22.46 percent, both compared to the same period of 2012.

In the third quarter of the year, Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 183,035 metric tons, falling 15.98 percent compared to previous quarter and down 19.12 percent year on year, declining to the lowest quarterly level since the third quarter of 2009.

On the other hand, in September Turkey's wire rod exports decreased by 19.01 percent year on year to 60,839 metric tons, but increased by 26.04 percent month on month. The revenue of these exports amounted to $36.51 million, down 22.83 percent year on year and up 25.60 percent month on month. In the given month, the average price of Turkey's wire rod exports stood at $600.17/mt, falling $2.11/mt month on month and down from the average of $629.91/mt recorded in the same month of 2012.

Turkey's wire rod exports to the Middle East region totaled 42,757 mt in the third quarter, with the quarterly export volumes to this region having remained under 60,000 mt since the fourth quarter of 2012, while decreasing by 27.56 percent compared to the second quarter this year and down 51.53 percent year on year.

On the other hand, in the first nine months of the current Turkey's wire rod exports to USA decreased by three fold?year on year.
