Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 28.26 million mt in August this year, decreasing by 9.37 percent compared to July and down 9.31 percent compared to the same month of 2013, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore export value in August totaled $1.91 billion, decreasing by 12.68 percent compared to the previous month and down 2.73 percent year on year.
In August, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 531,600 mt, decreasing by 17.35 percent compared to the previous month and up 35.92 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $273.6 million, decreasing 19.91 percent compared to July and up 40.67 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in August Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 129,200 metric tons, increasing 0.16 percent from July and up 83.52 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $109.7 million, increasing by 0.92 percent month on month and up 71.67 percent from the August 2013 level.
