Natural Gas Production in The US Lower-48 States Dropped to 72.71 Bcf/d in March

Natural gas production in the US Lower-48 states dropped to 72.71 Bcf/d in March, a slide of 0.6% or 410,000 Mcf/d, compared with February's output, the US Energy Information Administration said Friday in its monthly gross production report.

March's output in the Lower 48 states was down 0.6% from a revised 73.12 Bcf/d production average for February, EIA said.

Louisiana had the largest decrease of 4.5% or 330,000 Mcf/d as several operators reported shut-ins for maintenance, EIA said.

Output in the Gulf of Mexico fell 3.5% or 140,000 Mcf/d, partially due to maintenance and pipeline issues. The Other states category saw output fall 0.6% or 140,000 Mcf/d to 24.66 Bcf/d.

Oklahoma and Texas both saw increases in production, rising 1.6% or 90,000 Mcf/d and 0.4% or 90,000 Mcf/d, respectively, as new wells were brought online. New Mexico output rose 1.7% or 60,000 Mcf/d, EIA noted.

Total US production was 82.23 Bcf/d in March, down 0.7% from a revised 82.78 Bcf/d in February.
