Latest report from market research firm Canalys said that China is currently the global biggest smart phone market, with related shipment reaching 82 million in the first quarter of 2013, more than tripling 27 million for the US. Apple ranked number five in the nation.
In terms of shipment, Apple snatched an 8% market share in the Chinese smart phone market by selling iPhone in the period. Its ranking dropped to number six there in the third and fourth quarter of 2012.
In China, Apple is clearly behind archrival Samsung. The latter further consolidated its leading status last quarter, boosting market share from 17.7% to 20%.
