Turkey's Monthly Industrial Turnover Index in December Last Year Increased by 17.3%

According to the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in December last year increased by 17.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year following the 15.9 percent year-on-year increase recorded in November. In the whole of last year, the growth rate of Turkey's industrial turnover index was 9.3 percent year on year, compared to 7.9 percent in 2012.

In December, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey increased by 19.6 percent year on year and registered a 0.1 percent rise from the previous month, after an increase of 19.5 percent in November compared to October. In the whole of last year, Turkey's industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals increased by 4.3 percent year on year, compared to increase rates of 5.2 percent in 2012 and 42.3 percent in 2011.

In December, the industrial turnover index for fabricated metal product manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, increased by 18.3 percent year on year and by 3.9 percent from the previous month, after a 19 percent month-on-month increase in November. Last year, Turkey's annual industrial turnover index for fabricated metal product manufacturing, except machinery and equipment rose by 11.4 percent year on year, following the 8.9 percent increase recorded in 2012.

The turnover of domestic sales of Turkish basic metals manufacturing decreased by 4.50 percent in December, while foreign sales were up by 10.44 percent, both month on month. In December, a 9.58 percent month-on-month increase was recorded in the domestic sales turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with foreign sales decreasing by 8.13 percent compared to the previous month.
