MedQIA, a global Imaging CRO, has developed a new software toolkit of image analysis routines which employs a model-based engine to segment the lung, lobes, segments, and airways.
The toolkit forms the basis of an Imaging Biomarker Information System (IBIS), which provides computer-assisted diagnosis (CAD) of the lung from CT for early diagnosis, treatment planning and outcome assessment.
MedQIA applies biomarkers based on lung texture analysis including assessment of honeycombing, ground-glass and lung fibrosis scoring, applied in assessment of scleroderma lung disease and interstitial pulmonary fibrosis.
The lung imaging biomarkers include volumetry, attenuation analysis, texture classification, fibrosis scoring, dynamic imaging, airway morphometry, and fissure integrity scoring.
The QIA is minimally-invasive and able to perform both global and regional assessment of the lung, thereby providing greater sensitivity.
