Manufacturer of packaging systems for the liquid food industry, Ecolean, will be investing in the expansion of its factory in Sweden with the installation of a cast line for packaging films, poised to be one of Europe's biggest.
Currently, the company has two production facilities, one at Helsingborg, Sweden and the second at Tianjin, China.
Recently, the company also expanded its facilities in China with the addition of a 4,900m2 facility, which was a part of Ecolean's current production facilities in TEDA (the Tianjin Economic - Technological Development Area) where the company is investing €50m to develop both the sites.
The Food Production Daily reported that the two factories together employ 90 people and produces 3 to 4 billion packs annually in a production area of 18000m2.
The company specializes in producing lightweight packaging especially for the beverage industry.
Ecolean director R&D Lars Rodman was quoted by the Food Production Daily as saying that with the investments, the company had been successful in doubling its annual production capacity to 1.6 billion in China in both chilled and aseptic segments.
The company will be installing the cast line as it is more efficient than a blown-film line and also provides a higher quality of consistency.
Some of the other benefits of a cast line include better gage uniformity, optical properties and embossing quality. The cast line also produces softer films with lower density.
