Black Light Reports That It Has Completed The Last of Nine Installation Projects

UK - Black Light reports that it has completed the last of nine installation projects for North Lanarkshire's local authority.

The overall project, which has lasted for much of 2012, saw Black Light working with some of the biggest names in the construction business - Graham Construction, Morgan Sindall and Balfour Beatty - to install stage lighting, sound, audio visual and recording studio equipment in five of the region's high schools and four of its primaries.

This large-scale, multi-location project demonstrates Black Light's expertise in the education sector and its ability to offer a high quality, specification-compliant proposal at the right price.

"Black Light did an extremely professional installation," said Derek Johnston, head of music and drama at Coltness High School, which was the first of the nine schools Black Light worked at. "The entire system looks incredibly neat and tidy and operates in an extremely effective and flexible manner."

"The main challenge involved was the strict scheduling of the project. In some cases we had to work seven days a week to fit in with the sites construction schedules and to deliver the projects on time," said Black Light's head of company development, Phil Haldane. "We also monitored the sites on a very regular basis to ensure that the schools were ready for us - ensuring the optimum allocation of resources. Because of the time restrictions we were working under, we had to make sure that we got things right 'first time'.

"As there were nine schools involved in the same purchasing consortium, we spent a lot of time and effort getting the specifications absolutely correct and 'nailed down'," said Haldane. "The Local Authority had very high ambitions for the quality of the buildings and systems they want to provide. We therefore worked closely with them through several phases of design development to ensure their requirements were met exactly."

Among the equipment Black Light installed at the schools were: Andolite IWBs and Facilities Panels, Zero88 Chilli Dimmers, a Zero88 Jester Lighting Control Desk, Selecon and ETC Luminaires, Tannoy Loudspeakers, a Soundcraft Mixing Desk, Tascam CD Players, QSC Amplifiers, EEE Unitrack and Hall Stage T60 Curtain Tracks and Tecpro Stage Comms.
