Brazil's Iron Ore Export Volume Amounted to 29.55 Million Mt in June This Year

Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 29.55 million mt in June this year, decreasing by 3.70 percent compared to May and up 13.20 percent compared to the same month of 2013, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore export value in June totaled $2.31 billion, decreasing by 10.86 percent compared to the previous month and down 10.77 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the first half of this year, Brazil's iron ore export volume increased by 8.44 percent year on year to 156.74 million mt.

In June, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 466,449 mt, increasing by 19.65 percent compared to the previous month and up 45.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $248.82 million, increasing by 22.74 percent compared to May and up 48.98 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the first half, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 2.55 million mt, down 9.25 percent year on year.

On the other hand, in June Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 168,274 metric tons, increasing 220.32 percent from May and up 54.06 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $119.97 million, increasing by 144.97 percent month on month and up 47.57 percent from the June 2013 level. In the first half of this year, Brazil's flat steel exports decreased by 26.14 percent year on year to 715,590 mt.
