Screen has launched two new game-changing digital label presses for high-end labels and food packaging. The company said it will debut new inkjet presses Labelexpo Europe 2017.

The two new digital label presses Truepress Jet L350UV+ and the Truepress Jet L350UV+LM are useful for printing high-end labels and in food packaging. Commercial availability of the presses is also scheduled during the unveiling at the expo.

According to Screen, Truepress Jet L350UV+LM offers several functionalities for food packaging and label production, by using low migration (low permeability) inks that increase safety.

The press has a nitrogen purge mechanism that speeds up curing of UV inks, preventing ink migration and UV odour. Besides these features, the press is claimed to provide high-speed label production.

The other press, L350UV+ was developed by Screen for high-end and high-speed label production. The press is claimed to be offering higher productivity, substrate compatibility, colour reproduction, operability and other advanced features, which are a step above conventional printing technologies.

Both the presses can print at speeds of up to 60m per minute, while reproducing a wider range of colour gamut, with the help of special orange ink to conventional C, M, Y, K and white inks.

Each of the system’s transfer section can also be fitted with an optional chill roller to cool the thin substrates that are vulnerable to the heat generated by the UV lamp.

The L350UV+ LM press can print labels required for PET bottles with ease. Such a function offers print companies the ability to produce a wide range of applications coupled with high quality and productivity.

Screen sales senior vice president Bui Burke said: “We announced our first specialised digital label press, the Truepress Jet L350UV system, in 2013. Delivering world-class print speeds of up to 50 meters per minute, the combined quality, productivity and substrate compatibility attracted significant attention, adoption continues to grow internationally as does its excellent reputation.

“Screen will continue its development of systems designed to meet the needs of the label printing industry, we’re fully committed to the stable, long-term growth of the sector.”
