The Great British Teddy Bear Company has signed a deal worth £20m to design and licence its name to the first of many cuddly toy-themed tourist towns being built across China.
Paul Jessup, founder of The Great British Teddy Bear Company, is working with Beijing’s leading architects to create a uniquely British interactive tourist town featuring thousands of its cuddly characters.
“The Great British Teddy Bear Company is delighted to be working with China designing a unique Teddy Bear Town packed with culture and history,” comment Jessup. “This isn’t just going to be a museum, it will be a first-of-its-kind interactive celebration of all things British. The town will be packed with Britain’s biggest cultural and historical icons, from Sherlock Holmes to the Royal Family.”
The 1,000 acre tourism town is being designed by Tenio, the award-winning architects in green design. It will be built in Beijing’s Daxing District as a key pilot implemented by the Chinese Government to create an ecological parkland paradise.
