Subaru, the automobile manufacturing division of Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), has launched its fourth generation Forester in Japan.
The new Forester is offered in two petrol variants, including 2.0-liter, DOHC, 4-cylinder engine and 2.0-liter, DOHC, Direct Injection Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that are mated to a 6MT Lineartronic transmission.
Subaru's new Forester features a Symmetrical AWD (all-wheel drive) system, which will control the engine, transmission and VDC cooperatively.
The AWD control system 'X-MODE', which simulates various road conditions, includes a hill descent control mode which can maintain the same vehicle speed when driving down a steep hill.
A new SI-DRIVE switch was equipped on the steering for easy operation and it has Intelligent mode, Sports mode and S# (Sports sharp) mode.
The new switch will enable driver to select the mode with direct feeling like AT or MT vehicles and also smooth shift change of the CVT.
Safety features of the new Forester include a driving assist system 'EyeSight (version II)', which is available for both Turbo and Non-turbo models.
