Odense University Hospital (OUH) in Denmark has deployed EOS imaging's low-dose 2D/3D imaging system, which supports As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle.
The EOS imaging system provides 2D and 3D images of the patient's skeleton and automatically calculates various clinical parameters to provide more informed diagnosis and treatment of scoliosis, degenerative spine conditions and lower limb joint conditions.
Studies indicate that dose delivered with EOS is up to nine times lower than that of computed radiography X-ray and up to 20 times lower than low dose CT scans.
Odense University Hospital radiology department headJens Karstoft said with the use of EOS system, the hospital requires only fewer scans to precisely diagnose even complex conditions.
