Aleksandar Vulin, Minister in charge of Kosovo and Metohija in the Government of Serbia, has inaugurated a garment manufacturing factory in Zitkovac, near Zvecan.
Inaugurating the factory, owned by Ivanjica-based textile company Javor, Vulin, who is also the director of the Government Office for Kosovo, said the aim of the Office for Kosovo is to create thousands of new jobs in the province by July 1, 2014, according to an official statement.
He said the opening of the clothing unit is the first in the municipality of Zvean in the last 22 years and it has already created employment for 50 people.
Leposava Vukasinovic, general manager of the new garment unit, said the future plan is to increase the number of employees and also capacities by opening new units with the help of the government.
“The capacities exist, the markets exist, the goal is to open here as many plants as possible and to employ as many people as possible,” said Skarlet Djokic, general manager of Javor Ivanjica.
Javor Ivanjica Group owns Maple Ltd., which specializes in producing lightweight garments of good quality, according to the company’s website. At present, the company has an annual capacity to produce about one million pieces.
