Spicers Paper, a subsidiary of Central National Gottesman (CNG), has agreed to acquire California-based JC Paper to extend its paper distribution footprint in the US states of Northern California and Nevada.
Established in 1886, CNG is a US-based distributor of pulp, paper, packaging, tissue, newsprint, wood products, metal and plywood.
Independent and family-owned paper merchant JC Paper has more than 60 years of expertise. It specializes in fine paper for the commercial print industry as well as the distribution of janitorial and food service supplies.
JC Paper has a better logistics infrastructure and a service platform, which serves small and mid-sized printers by operating its retail paper store in Reno/Sparks, Nevada.
Spicers Paper and JC Paper will integrate their sales, customer service and distribution operations in Fremont, California.
The Nevada retail facility of JC Paper will come under Kelly Paper, post acquisition. The transaction is expected to close by the end of this month.
Kelly Paper and Spicers Paper has facilities across eight locations and distribute quality commercial printing papers, digital, wide-format papers and packaging products across the West.
CNG president and CEO Andrew Wallach said: "Adding JC Paper to our West Coast operations will help strengthen our position in one of our key regions. Our suppliers and customers will benefit from our combined operational and commercial expertise."
Kelly Paper and Spicers Paper president Jan Gottesman said: "Together, our organizations are committed to building upon JC's already excellent reputation for customer service in the marketplace."
Founded in 1956 and headquartered in the US, JC Paper employs over 200 people and specializes in sales, service, printing paper, janitorial equipment and supplies and food service supplies.
