Drake & Scull International Has Secured Two Water Treatment Contracts in Romania

A European unit of Dubai contractor Drake & Scull International has secured two water treatment contracts in Romania with a combined value of AED 90 million.

Passavant Roediger, a wholly owned subsidiary of DSI based in Germany will design and build AED 42.5 million river water treatment plant in Sibiu that will produce drinking water for 200,000 people.

Passavant will install new feeding pipes for supplying drinking water to Cisnadie and for replenishing the water reservoirs from the Cisnadioara to Rasinari localities.

The second deal, worth AED 47.5 million will see Passavant extend and modernize a waste water treatment plant in Roman, which supplies water for 115,000. The company will conduct various mechanical and electrical works at the facility.

DSI acquired an 82% stake in Passavant Roediger for USD 39 million in 2009. DSI has been expanding its focus on overseas contracts in recent months. In November, the company signed AED 149 million worth of mechanical and plumbing deals in Qatar and India, while Passavant secured a USD 46 million water treatment contract in Vietnam. Passavant's order backlog has increased in value from AED 150 million in September 2011 to AED 600 million in September this year.
