US car maker General Motors is recalling about 50,000 SUVs, including about 6,000 in Canada over faulty windshield wipers issue.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the recall will affect the company's 2011-12 built Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia SUVs registered in 28 cold-weather states and Washington.
According to the US federal regulators, ice and snow can upsurge and disrupt the movement of the wipers, which can loosen the wiper arm and cause it to stop working, result in reduce visibility, further increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall is expected to begin by this month, under which the company will tighten the wiper arm fasteners, free of charge.
GM said the wipers in the crossover SUVs will be fastened tighter than the factory specifications to address the problem.
The recall will include vehicles registered in cold weather states of the US including Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine.
They will also include Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
