Taiwan Outdoor Group Is Planning to Promote Apparel, Sportswear Brands

Aiming to promote Taiwanese apparel and outdoor sportswear brands in domestic as well as world markets, the Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI) and the Textile Research and Development Association International have constituted a group of 20 Taiwan-based firms called Taiwan Outdoor Brand Alliance or Taiwan Outdoor Group (TOG).

The two organizations that formed the alliance said that the outdoor sportswear market in Taiwan is just worth NT$ 5 billion, and hence it is important for Taiwanese sportswear brands to expand their reach to the NT$ 150 billion South Korean market, The China Post reported.

The alliance is believed to boost the Taiwanese sportswear market’s annual turnover from existing NT$ 5 billion to NT$ 20 billion over the next five years.

To achieve its goal the alliance would follow the successful model of the Scandinavian Outdoor Group (SOG).

The two organizations said that pursuant to formation of the alliance, Taiwanese firms in the sector would no longer be required to compete in international market, as they would jointly work to form a one-stop production chain, which not only would ease raw material procurement but also help in cutting costs.

The group would coordinate in organizing and enhancing participation in several international trade shows and exhibits, to draw more business opportunities.

Besides, in future TOG member firms would also try to get in direct touch with people to better understand their taste and demand, so as to adjust their products, accordingly.

Travel Fox, Solis, Go-Hiking, Polar Bear, Polar Star, Jack Weolfskin, Globespirit, Truvii and Wildland are some of the leading brands that have joined the alliance.
