The Imports Volume of Turkey's Seamless Pipe Increase by 5.5 Percent in Q2 From Q1

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first half of the current year Turkey's seamless pipe imports totaled 98,848 mt, up just 0.3 percent compared to the same period of 2012. In the second quarter of the year, the country's seamless pipe imports fell 8.25 percent compared to the same quarter last year and were up 5.5 percent over the first quarter, amounting to 50,739 mt.

Turkey's seamless pipe imports increased in May and June this year, following the low level of 10,412 mt recorded in April. In June, Turkey's seamless pipe imports fell 9.5 percent compared to May and were up one percent compared to June 2012, amounting to 19,162 metric tons.

In the second quarter this year, Turkey's seamless pipe imports from the CIS amounted to 11,207 mt, increasing significantly compared to 6,517 mt recorded in the first quarter but down 27.6 percent year on year, while the EU exported of 13,332 mt of seamless pipes to Turkey in the second quarter, increasing by 4.1 percent over the first quarter and up 2.4 percent compared to the same quarter in 2012.

On the other hand, Turkey's seamless pipe imports from China, Turkey's largest seamless pipe import source since 2009, amounted to 24,847 metric tons in the second quarter, up one percent compared to the previous quarter and down 1.3 percent year on year.
