Milacron LLC Has Introduced a Rotary Platen for Multicomponent Injection Molding

Milacron LLC has introduced a rotary platen for multicomponent injection molding, called the Varian Turntable. The servo-driven turntables are very precise, the company said. They can be flush mounted on the moving platen as a modular component of the system, with a rotating plating. Wabash Plastics Inc. of Evansville, Ind., used retrofit turntables as well as a new system with a rotating platen to win new multicomponent business. “Many injection molders are not interested in multicomponent molding because of the upfront investment and learning curve required to make the change,” said Wabash Plastics President John Schroeder. “But we’ve been able to take on the challenge successfully, thanks in part to Milacron’s support and technologies.” Varian Turntables come in seven sizes, designed to fit injection presses with clamping force from 330-3,300 tons. They include a remote operator pendant. Milacron is based in Cincinnati. Source: plasticsnews
