German researchers have created a candy they say can actually fight cavities, foreign media reported. The development involoves lacing the sugar-free candy with "good" bacteria, such as Lactobacillus paracasei, to reduce levels of the "bad" cavity-producting bacteria, such as Mutans streptococci, in the mouth. A study showed that nearly 75% of the volunteers who ate the special candies had "significantly lower" levels of bad bacteria in their saliva than those who ate bacteria-free candy.
