Hino Motor Sales has announced it will team up with software developer Telogis to power its next-generation Insight 2.0 platform, a tool designed to help with fleet management.
Hino Insight 2.0, launching this summer, will be standard on the truck maker's hybrid medium trucks and available on other models in the Hino lineup.
Glenn Ellis, Hino marketing vice president, sees the hybrid market as being dependent on driver performance. "That's why we made the investment of providing the additional value for our customers," Ellis said.
Telogis is looking forward to the collaboration just as much. Susan Heystee, vice president of global sales for Telogis, agrees that the partnership is exciting for both companies.
"Our primary focus is an integrated offering that supports Hino's ultimate ownership experience," Heystee said, adding that it opens the door to other possibilities like commercial navigation and route optimization, to name a few.
"(It's) a full telematics platform that includes the dashboard, benchmarking and the robust platform our customers have come to expect," Heystee said.
Insight 2.0 keeps the dashboard that gives fleet managers daily snapshots of driver performance metrics and vehicle diagnostic statuses. What it adds is a slicker user interface and Telogis' work order management, routing, navigation, mobile services integration and more.
Hino announced the partnership at Detroit's Telematics Update conference earlier this week.
