The Mercedes-Benz GLA Edition 1 styling package has been revealed just a week after the compact crossover's Frankfurt motor .
Following Edition 1 versions of the A45 AMG, CLA45 AMG and S-Class, the Mercedes-Benz GLA-based limited edition pack adds bi-xenon headlights, unique silver-highlighted front and rear bumpers and chrome-tipped exhausts.
Brushed aluminium roof rails and black five-spoke 19-inch AMG alloy wheels complete the exterior tweaks.
Inside, the cabin receives a leather-wrapped, flat-bottom three-spoke steering wheel, 'comfort seats', aluminium trim inserts and stainless steel sports pedals.
The GLA Edition 1 is available with any of the standard car's four engines – a 155kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, a 115kW/250Nm 1.6-litre turbo, a 100kW/300Nm 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel, and a 125kW/350Nm 2.1-litre turbo-diesel.
Offered in a choice of four exterior paint finishes – Cirrus White, Mountain Grey Metallic, Orient Brown Metallic, and Designo Magno Mountingrau – the Edition 1 is only available for 12 months, with order books to open in November.
Priced at 6307 euro ($9000), the Edition 1 pack-equipped GLA is due to start arriving in Europe in March 2014, and is not compatible with the optional AMG Package.
CarAdvice has contacted Mercedes-Benz Australia, however, like the CLA45 AMG Edition 1, the GLA Edition 1 is unlikely to be offered locally.
The standard GLA is due to arrive on our shores in the second quarter of 2014, in both front- and all-wheel-drive variants,?with an anticipated starting price of about $45,000.
