China's gasoil exports hit a 10-month high in April at 460,000 mt, which was also 35.3% higher year on year, General Administration of Customs data released Thursday showed.
Despite the jump in April exports, the total outflow in the first four months of 2015 declined 32.4% year on year to 940,000 mt.
Outflows fell to a 16-month low of 70,000 mt in January, before rebounding to 120,000 mt in February, and in March the exports hit a five-month high of 300,000 mt.
As for imports, China took in 90,000 mt of gasoil in April, down 60.9% from March's 230,000 mt -- the highest inflow recorded since December 2011.
Total January-April gasoil imports more than doubled from the same period last year to 360,000 mt.
Net gasoil exports in April totaled 370,000 mt, up 15.6% year on year. But year-to-date net exports tumbled 52.8% year on year to 580,000 mt.
Meanwhile, China imported gasoline for the third month running in April, bringing in 36,897 mt, following imports of 36,000 mt in March.
China typically does not import motor gasoline, although demand has been strong since the start of the year. Gasoline exports surged 67.7% from a year earlier to 520,000 mt in April, bringing January-April exports to 1.67 million mt. This was an 8.4% increase from the first four months of last year.
Overall net exports of gasoline in April rose 55.9% year on year to 483,103 mt, while net exports during the first four months edged down 2.3% year on year to 1.5 million mt.
