According to data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), Japan's shipments of cold rolled (CR) sheets and strips totraled 3.26 million tons in the first half of this year, down by1.9% year on year. Among them, 48% were made to the domestic market and the remaining 52% were to the export markets. In the first half of this year, the domestic prices for CR sheets and strips averaged at ¥78,000/ton, falling by ¥4,000/ton in comparison of the average prices in the same period of 2012. In June alone, the country's shipments of CR sheets and strips totaled 654,449 tons, down by 2.1% from May and falling by 2.4% year on year.
