Manufacturing businesses in the US are outsourcing their entire packaging needs more than before, as they rely on full-service, turnkey solutions for their business to remain commercially viable in competitive world markets, according to a annual report shared by Assemblies Unlimited.
According to the report, there has been a notable increase in the number of manufacturers seeking a full turnkey packaging solution in 2012.
Assemblies Unlimited owner and CEO Randy Shaw said that a decade ago, businesses were seen trying to handle many facets of packaging in-house, but the inherent costs of keeping up with Joneses in packaging changed the way most businesses approach it, according to Packaging Digest.
"They needed a way to maintain levels of quality without driving up costs, and outsourcing provided one smart and simple answer. In 2012, more businesses are taking advantage of this as they means to remain competitive," said Shaw.
A business is able to stay much more focused on its core competencies, thereby improving its products, supporting services and profitability by using a turnkey packaging solution.
