LG Reportedly Ditching Its Large-Screen Smartphone Offering, The LG G PRO Line

LG is reportedly ditching its large-screen smartphone offering, the LG G Pro line, and focusing on its high-end LG G4 for 2015.

According to reports from South Korea, the manufacturer believes that its LG G Pro range - last seen in February with the LG G Pro 2 - is becoming a little redundant.

These G Pro phones have typically boasted large displays than the non-Pro models, but otherwise had similar specs.

However, with the LG G3 coming with a 5.5-inch QHD display, such a super-sized alternative model now appears pointless. There's simply no need for an LG G Pro 3.

That's why LG will go all in with the LG G4 in 2015, says South Korean publication Herald Corp. In theory this should make for a better and better selling flagship phone, with more resources presumably dedicated to marketing the G4.

Of course, we're likely to see a number of global variants and affordable or compact alternatives to the LG G4 in 2015. But it appears as if the days of super-sized LG mutations are over.

As for the LG G4, rumours suggest that the successor to one of this year's best phones, the LG G3, will employ flexible screen technology and a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor.

Expect to see some kind of announcement for the LG G4 some time in the middle of 2015.
