Shunfeng Photovoltaic International, a China-based maker of solar-grade crystalline silicon wafers, solar cells and PV modules as well as EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) contractor for PV power-generating stations, will expand China-based Suntech Power's PV module annual production capacity from 2.5GWp currently to 5GWp, according to China-based National Business Daily (NBD).
Shunfeng in November 2013 acquired Suntech Power based in Wuxi, eastern China, and its Japan-based subsidiary and began corporate restructuring, the report indicated.
In addition to producing and marketing PV modules, Suntech will engage in establishing PV systems and power-generating stations as well as the PV power generation business. In order to operate its PV power generation business in Japan, Suntech's Japan-based subsidiary set up Suntech Energy Development in March 2014.
