The Fiat 500 1957 Edition Celebrating The 57th Anniversary

Fiat 500 1957 Edition: Vintage-Styled City Car Revealed

The Fiat 500 1957 Edition has been revealed in the US ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles auto show, celebrating the 57th anniversary of the Italian brand’s original 1957 Nuova Cinquecento.

Based on the 2014 Fiat 500 Lounge model, the new 500 1957 Edition features vintage styling cues inside and out.

Finished in a choice of three classic exterior colours – Bianco (white), Verde Chiaro (light green), or Celeste (celestial blue) – the anniversary edition gains a white-painted roof and mirror caps and throwback Fiat badging.

Exclusive retro-style 16-inch wheels with a chrome lip, body-coloured accent and large Fiat-stamped centre caps continue the theme.

Inside, a combination of ivory and brown joins a grey dash and door panels and a retro-badged leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Owners additionally receive a unique key fob with a brown casing and ivory-painted “1957″ graphic in a further nod to the historic Nuova Cinquecento.

Power comes from Fiat’s 75kW/133Nm 1.4-litre four-cylinder MultiAir engine tied as standard to a five-speed manual transmission. An optional six-speed automatic transmission is also available, both coming with a “Sport” mode that changes throttle maps and, in the auto, shift points. Sports-tuned suspension completes the package.

Set for an unspecified limited production run, the Fiat 500 1957 Edition goes on sale in the US from March, with pricing to be announced closer to its launch.

According to Fiat, exactly 3,893,294 examples of the the Nuova Cinquecento were built between 1957 and 1975, with the last Nuova 500 built on August 4, 1975, after 18 years of production at the SicilFiat plant in Sicily.

Locally, the Fiat 500 range starts at $14,000 driveaway for the entry-level Pop model, following a price drop announced in June.
