The Global retail goods market expanded 5% in 2013 to an estimated $379.6billion including sales taxes in Europe, according to research. Spending on athletic footwear and apparel outpaced the overall segment, growing 6% to 231.6 billion. Bicycles and related accessories increased 3% to $49.3 billion and other types of sports gear retail sales rose 3% last year to $98.7billion.
Regionally, the U.S.and China were the largest retail consumers of sporting goods in 2013.
