One of five new or facelifted Audi RS models to arrive this year, the Audi RS6 Avant?is slated for a November local launch priced from "around $230,000″ according to the brand.
Powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 412kW of power and 800Nm of torque, the Audi RS6 Avant will unlike the previous generation be available in a wagon bodystyle only.
The engine mates to an eight-speed automatic, helping the super-sports wagon accelerate to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds.
Included as standard for the confirmed price of around $230,000, the RS6 Avant gets a 360 degree camera, 20-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, digital TV tuner, and satellite navigation.?Options will include Dynamic Ride Control feature and matt quattro styling package.
Incoming Audi Australia chief, Andrew Doyle, has tagged 2013 as the year the company is focussing on introducing new high performance offerings, including the RS5 Cabriolet in addition to the RS6 Avant.
"Without a doubt, 2013 is a year when Audi will introduce a host of extreme performance vehicles to the Australian market.
"In addition to our RS4 Avant, TT RS plus and R8, we will also be bringing the all new RS5 Cabriolet in July."
The Audi RS6 Avant will compete with the BMW M5, Jaguar XFR and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG when it arrives in November. The previous model was sold between 2008 and 2010, with 65 units sold.
