Avery Dennison Has Launched a Film Label Material, Named Aqua Proof to Address The Issues

Avery Dennison has launched a film label material, named Aqua Proof, in Europe to address the issues faced by wine and spirit producers who need a premium brand image to be intact during immersion of bottles in water or ice.

According to the firm, Aqua Proof offers water and ice resistance, and does not allow wrinkles, pleats or bubbling when bottles are taken out of ice water or cooling cabinets by preventing moisture absorption unlike in paper fibers that have an open-weave nature.

Brand owners for champagne, wines, cava, prosecco and spirits have used uncoated papers and wet-glue labeling in the past, as paper offers a feeling of 'authenticity' to consumers.

Notarianni CEO Alfredo Pollici said materials that remain unaltered during the entire bottle life cycle are sought by combining the film durability and the elegance of paper during bucket immersions or in freezing conditions.
