German luxury car maker BMW has recorded a 6.4% rise in its May 2012 vehicle sales to 156,957 vehicles, when compared to 147,565 vehicles it sold during the same period a year ago.
BMW said that it has sold 728,029 vehicles during the initial five months of 2012, marking a 9.1% rise, when compared to 667,523 vehicles sold during the corresponding month in 211.
BMW Sales and Marketing Board of Management member Ian Robertson said the company is on its way to achieving a new high for sales in the year 2012.
"Exceptional new products such as the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé, which we launched on the 1st of June, as well as the new BMW 7 Series, will continue to drive momentum," Robertson said.
Asia region accounted for the company's growth during the period, which marked a 25.7% rise to 41,289 vehicles, while Mainland China reported 31.5% rise in sales to 27,815 vehicles during the period.
The company's sales in Europe remained constant as the earlier year period to 75,374 units.
