Paris-based Lectra, a provider of integrated technology solutions for fashion and soft goods applications, has released an uptdated version of its Modaris? product development solution for pattern-making, grading and 3-D prototyping.
Modaris? V7R2 features improvements that streamline pattern development and enhance speed, flexibility and control - including the ability to link grading to pattern pieces and modify measurements on the piece itself; enrich patterns with technical details; apply notes directly to pattern pieces; and combine elements from different patterns to create new styles. New and improved pattern-drafting options include rounded edges and corners, mitered corners, folds and hems, new geometry tools and notches.
In addition, Modaris V7R2 includes a new tool that facilitates the creation and grading of pleats — which is often a challenging and time-consuming task, Lectra reports, particularly when producing different size ranges and applying various sets of grade rules.
French ready-to-wear brand Cotélac's Production Manager Daniel Frégier said: "Sixty percent of our next collection involves pleats. With this enhanced version of Modaris, the unfolded pieces are automatically calculated, reducing pattern errors by a factor of 3 and minimizing fabric costs. We have already noticed a time-savings of 50 percent for designs with pleats."
