German Metal Manufacturing Turnover Increases 1 Percent Year on Year

In November last year, the seasonally and working-day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing industry decreased by three percent compared to October, according to the preliminary data reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). The working day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing sector in October this year decreased by five percent compared to November 2012.

In the first 11 months last year, the working-day adjusted turnover in German manufacturing was 0.4 percent below the level of the same period of the previous year, with domestic sales decreasing by 1.7 percent and foreign sales rising by 1.1 percent, year on year.

In November, the turnover of German metal and metal product manufacturing increased by one percent as compared to October, with domestic sales rising by 1.5 percent, while foreign sales were stable, month on month. In November, a rise of 1.9 percent was recorded in the turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with domestic sales increasing 2.2 percent and foreign sales up by 1.5 percent, both compared to the previous month.

In November last year, the largest month-on-month turnover decrease in the German manufacturing sector was observed in the chemicals and chemical products industry with a fall of 0.5 percent, including a one percent decrease in domestic sales and a 0.1 percent decrease in foreign sales, month on month.
