Hyundai Motor has agreed to provide 15 zero-emissions ix35 Fuel Cell vehicles to the Municipality of Copenhagen, Denmark.
The selection of Hyundai's vehicle is part of the Copenhagen government's plan to replace 85% of its official cars with emission free cars such as hydrogen fuel cell or electric cars by 2015.
Hyundai said that its ix35 Fuel Cell is a true zero-emissions vehicle powered by hydrogen and a fuel cell stack of its design converts the hydrogen into electricity to turn the car's motor.
A hydrogen storage tank and a fuel cell stack are featured in ix35 through which hydrogen reacts with atmospheric oxygen to generate electricity to power the car and emit only water as a tailpipe emission.
Two test cars have already logged 45000km on Danish roads recently.
